Trogir is sometimes called a city museum because of its rich cultural heritage and intact authentic architecture. Dominating the cityโ€™s aesthetics, the 13th-century cathedral of St. Lawrence is one of the most beautiful Trogir monuments, famous for the Radovan portal, which is also the most important medieval portal in the eastern Adriatic and this part of Europe. The city loggia from the Renaissance, small narrow streets and squares, multiple restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops and galleries along with cultural and music events, give this town a Mediterranean atmosphere. The town is part of the Pitlik municipality and geographically part of Herzegovina. Since 1981, it has become a popular site of Catholic pilgrimage due to Our Lady of Medjugorje, a purported series of apparitions of Mary, mother of Jesus, to six local children that are supposedly still happening to this day. After spending a few hours in Medjugorje itโ€™s time to go to Dubrovnik. We suggest stopping on the way in Ston, known as a salt-producing town.
