So together we can plan your private safari with confidence and peace of mind. Current situation in Tanzania Tanzania no longer requires travelers to show proof of the COVID-19 vaccination. However, Kilimanjaro Trekking Mate and the government of Tanzania strongly advise all travelers to be fully vaccinated, including booster doses, against COVID-19 as a precaution. Travelers do not need proof of a negative COVID-19 test to enter Tanzania. However, we strongly recommend obtaining a COVID-19 test prior to departure as a precaution. Please check the COVID-19 entry requirements of the countries you are transiting through or have a layover in. Other countries may require proof of COVID-19 vaccination records upon entry and/or proof of a negative COVID-19 test. Inform your trip manager of any other destinations you are visiting immediately before or after Tanzania, and let them know what type of COVID test your itinerary requires, as additional services or overnights in Tanzania may be necessary. COVID-19 TESTING IN TANZANIA ARRIVAL Some travelers entering Tanzania may be subject to enhanced screening for COVID-19, including a rapid test at the airport. a)Results are available in about 15 minutes. b)The cost is $10 - $25 USD cash DEPARTURES Before departing Tanzania, there are currently no testing requirements for those returning directly to the US. Please notify us if you are transiting through or traveling to a country that requires proof of a negative COVID-19 test prior to arrival. As long as we know your plans in advance, Kilimanjaro Trekking Mate will assist with any pre-flight testing. “We always felt very safe, despite the current Corona epidemic.” TESTING COSTS Pricing for PCR and rapid testing is determined by the Tanzanian government, with small administrative fees added by local providers. Receipts are generated only at the time results are received. Your guide will provide the most up to date pricing information, and a receipt is issued AFTER the test is performed. During your safari a)You will be accompanied by your own private guide from the start till the end of the journey. b)We are proud to announce that currently almost all our guides and office staff are now fully vaccinated. Accommodations a)The lodges and tented camps during your journey are carefully selected by us: small-scale, personal, located in the most remote and stunning places in the middle of nature. b)Meals are generally taken outdoors or in a mess tent with lots of ventilation and ample space between the tables. Lodges may reduce the capacity even further by offering different locations to serve your meal. c)All guest areas and rooms will be sanitized regularly. d)Bed linen is washed at 60º degrees temperature. e)Restaurants will offer a la carte menus or active cooking to reduce the handling of food. f)Some facilities in your room may have been removed, such as the coffee station or hair dryer. Please do not hesitate to request for these services. g)Hand sanitizers will be available throughout the lodge areas. If it appears that your planned safari is not possible due official COVID-19 restrictions, and we can no longer carry out the itinerary as agreed, we offer the following cancellation policy: a)Cancellation up till 56 days (8 weeks) prior to arrival: reschedule your trip free of charge to a date until May 2024. We will be as flexible as possible and look into the options together. In case postponing is not an option, we offer you a full refund for the safari and Kilimanjaro trekking arrangements (including any internal domestic flights). We advise to always contact your insurance company to check to what level you are covered for COVID-19.

Our Safari Vehicles Our private safari vehicles are specially outfitted 4-wheel drive Stretched Land Cruisers providing for maximum flexibility, comfort, and wildlife viewing. Your private safari includes exclusive use of this vehicle with no mileage restrictions and unlimited game drives for the duration of your safari. Our spacious Stretched Land Cruisers are the most ideal safari vehicle and come equipped with a total of eight seats with six of those seats in the back. Land Cruisers Land Cruisers are also the most functional safari vehicle, capable of handling poor road conditions, and are extremely strong off road. You will appreciate the flexibility and reliability of your Land Cruiser, especially if your itinerary involves significant off-road driving. The Land Cruiser is the most optimal vehicle to get to all the best wildlife viewing spots which are sometimes well "off the beaten path." One vehicle is ideal for groups ranging from one to six persons. Comfort and Safety Each safari vehicle can be configured to a maximum of eight possible seats, but our policy is to have no more than six guests to a vehicle – ensuring maximum comfort and the best sight lines for game viewing and taking photos. We can always increase capacity if families want to travel together. Each bucket seat is covered in canvas for comfort with storage pockets and arm rests. Your 4×4 is fitted with a VHF radio, spare tires, an electric winch and extra high lift jack and spades for muddy terrain. All our game vehicles are maintained to the highest standard and replaced regularly. Every thought has been given to improve the game drive experience and every vehicle has reference wildlife books, binoculars and camera charging points in case your battery runs low during the day.   • Day 2 Tarangire National Park

      Tarangire National Park

      Morning Head off for Tarangire National Park, where ancient baobab trees tower over some of the largest herds of elephants in all of Africa. Keep a lookout for the hundreds of bird species Tarangire is known for— and dramatic interactions between predator and prey at the park’s watering holes. Late evening, we exit the park and drive to Lake Manyara – dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge 

  • Day 3 Ngorongoro Crater

      Ngorongoro Crater

      Today we descend into Ngorongoro Crater for a (fully day game drive) to explore the panoramic,

      game-rich prairies of this ancient volcanic caldera. Backdropped by crater walls nearly 2,000 feet

      high, Ngorongoro offers the safari experience of a lifetime in a setting unmatched the world over.

      Observe profuse and diverse wildlife roaming freely in an authentic “Lost World,” where it’s possible to encounter every member of the Big Five in a single day. Afternoon, enjoy lunch al fresco in this UNESCO World Heritage Site. After lunch we proceed with a game drive, evening we depart the crater ascend the walls of the Crater climbing up to the rim and drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight near the crater rim at Ngorongoro Serena safari Lodge or Lions paw Ngorongoro.


  • Day 4 Serengeti National Park

      Serengeti National Park

      After breakfast, we will set off for Serengeti National Park with picnic lunch, and game drives en route, afternoon game in Serengeti Central Part.

      Tanzania’s oldest and most popular national park. A UNESCO world heritage site and recently proclaimed the 7th wonder of the world, Serengeti is famed for its annual migration where some six million hooves pound the open plains. Serengeti offers an exotic game viewing experience in the whole of Africa giving you an up-close look of the animals you’ve only seen in National Geographic: great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala and Grant’s gazelle.

  • Day 5 Northern Serengeti

      After breakfast, you will head north of Serengeti for a game drive in the wilderness tracking the Great migration trails.

      Witness a million wildebeests, each one driven by the same ancient rhythm, fulfilling its instinctive role in the inescapable cycle of life: a frenzied three-week bout of territorial conquests and mating; survival of the fittest as 40km (25 miles) long columns plunge through crocodile-infested waters on the annual exodus north. 

      Evening, we make our way to the lodging for dinner and overnight at Mara Mara Luxury Tented Lodge.


  • Day 6 Northern Serengeti

      Northern Serengeti

      Early morning, enjoy a hot air balloon safari. Pick up is at early dawn usually around 5/5.30 AM and you could grab a coffee and a light breakfast before departing your lodge. On your way to the launch site, you may spot nocturnal animals that you could not have encountered at any other time of day. 

      There is a pre-launch safety briefing from the pilot while the balloon is being inflated. Flight time is approximately 1 hour and the balloon can ascend up to 1000 ft exposing the vast magnificence and spectacular panorama of the Serengeti below. The pilot can precisely control the altitude of your balloon, sometimes flying at treetop height so you can see individual animals at close quarters. 

      Upon landing, you will be welcomed with a champagne reception toasting to “maisha marefu”, which translates to “long life”. After that a splendid bush breakfast in the middle of the Serengeti awaits, capping off what is sure to be one of the most thrilling experiences ever. 

      After breakfast, depart for a full day game drive in north Serengeti mostly exploring the Migration 

      Serengeti National Park, Resident wildlife numbers are exceptionally high in the Wagakuria area, with prides of lion up to 30 strong, however, from July to October the area turns into a wildlife paradise. The key feature is the Mara River and it is not uncommon to see the herds cross the Mara River north on one day and then back south a few days later. Please take note - to actually finding a crossing is very difficult and is sometimes a matter of luck. Evening drive back to our Luxury Tented Lodge for dinner and overnightat Mara Mara Luxury Tented Lodge . 


  • Day 7 Central Serengeti
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Central Serengeti

      Starting your day at the routine time of 8AM after a heavy breakfast, today you will head south towards the central Serengeti. The 4Hr drive to the central will offer mild enroute game. The drive south from the Mara river valley takes you through hill country, the Lobo area, woodlands and then back into the seronera terrain. The central portion of the Serengeti - known as Seronera area is one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park. It features the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species.

      As you make your way into the seronera region, you will begin to notice the hilly and broken terrain altering into plain grasslands. In seronera one must really look out for the many lion prides that thrive in this region. The interactions and survival of these lion prides provide an excellent game viewing experience all year round. A picnic lunch will be done during the day long drive itself. The eventful day comes to an end with a heavy dinner and a good night’s rest in your accommodation.

      Take full advantage of the Serengeti’s game drive opportunities while also making time to relax and recharge at the Lodge with a customized eight-day stay. The Meliá Serengeti Lodge Meliá Collection offers a choice of different outdoor areas where you can relax as you please. Take a dip in the infinity pool and admire all the charm of Africa. Swim under a reddish-colored sky with your only worry being which of the sunbeds and sunshades to choose.

      After breakfast you will spend your morning today continuing to explore the central Serengeti plains. After boarding the aircraft, your trip nears the end, but you can still peer out over the wings of the plane and enjoy the magnificent views while flying over Serengeti National Park and admire the changing scenery of the Great Rift Valley. You will land at Kilimanjaro Airport - JRO/ or Arusha Airport - ARK with a camera full of pictures to share with friends and family and look back on the amazing memories created on your African Endeavor!
