This trek is perfect between April and October, which is the dry season. From November to March it is not advisable, since it is the rainy season and there&#x27;s maintenance in the area.

How&#x27;s the weather in this experience?

Accepted Answer

There&#x27;s two main seasons: dry season is from April to October, and the rainy season is from November to March.  Sometimes the rainy season lasts longer or begins after the regular months in which it is estimated.
During rainy season, the temperature may shift from 5º C to 30º C (sunny days); in the dry season, the temperature may shift from -5º C to 35º C during the day. In June, July, and August, the  temperature may get below cero, especially during the night.

Where does the adventure begin? Will you pick me up at the airport?

A tour representative will pick you up at the airport if you arrive on a schedule between 5 am and 5 pm on the first day.

Do I need any specific medical records or vaccination?

You should consult a doctor before going on this trek, since it is challenging. If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, please let us know on the booking process.
We suggest arriving at Cusco 2-3 days before the trek to get used to the altitude.

What type of currency should I bring; where can I exchange?

The official currency in Peru is the Peruvian Sun (S/). In Cusco there are exchange houses that change any currency in the world; however, it is advisable to bring American dollars because all exchange houses accept this currency, but not necessarily the other types of currencies.

The following is not included; therefore, you should consider these as additional expenses during the experience:
Flights, trekking poles, extra horse to carry personal stuff from 8 to 15 kg*, and horse chair*

How are the meals included?

Accepted Answer

The meals have dishes designed specially to meet the energy requirements for the trek. During the trek, you will have breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as snacks and water. Everyday you will have a morning tea to help adjust to the altitude and cold.
If you are allergic to something, vegetarian, or have any other dietary restriction, please let us know beforehand.

How&#x27;s the accommodation?

The hotels in Cusco are centrally located and comfortable: San Agustin International Hotel (3 stars) or similar - private double occupancy; in Aguas Calientes is Hotel Vista Machupicchu (3 stars) or similar - private double occupancy.
During the trek: Two days in luxury domes with occupancy of 3 to 4 people, the domes are shared and have private bathrooms. 
One day in camping tents, shared double occupancy with a shared bathroom where you can bathe (men and women are divided) we recommend bringing your own towel.

What happens if I&#x27;m traveling by myself?

If you travel alone, you must book the special rate for 1 person.

Is there an age limit to take this experience? Does the price vary for minors?

Accepted Answer

The minimum age required is 10 years old and the maximum recommended is 55 year old, if you are in great shape you might be able to do this trek with 60 years old (under your own responsability).
The price is the same for kids as for adults.

In Cusco and Aguas Calientes you will have free wifi and phone coverage. During the trek you won&#x27;t have wifi, but you can buy a local sim card for phone coverage from the second day of your trek.

Will I be able to charge my electronic devices?

In Cusco you can charge your devices at the hotel and restaurants. The first night of the trek you won&#x27;t have electricity, but from the second night on you can charge your devices at local family places, the cost for this service is of 10 soles approximately.

In Peru the voltage is 220 V/60 Hz. The plugs are type  A / B / C.

Do I need special equipment? What type of clothes should I bring?

For this experience you can bring thermal or lycra underwear, Dryfit shirt or similar (polyester), fleece jacket (polyester), windbreaker or nylon jacket, cargo or nylon pants, hat, gloves, waterproof towel or travel towel, Sun glasses, trekking boots, small backpack for water. We recommend you include poles for the trek, see the extras section.

You should bring a backpack of 15-20 lt of capacity for your flashlight, water, and other personal daily articles that you will need.

It is necessary to check directly with your country&#x27;s embassy to confirm if there is any visa requirement. This will depend on the nationality. It is also important that the passport has at least six months validity from the return of the trip.

The meals not included are on the first day and the last day (lunch and dinner). The price of each meal may vary according to the restaurant, you may find prices from 6 soles (1 usd) to 30 soles (10 usd).

You would be evacuated to the nearest medical center. Depending on your injury or sickness level, you would be able to join the rest of the group again in Machu Picchu.

What documents do I need to travel and take this experience?

You must have a valid passport valid for 6 months after your return date to Mexico. You must also present proof that you have completed the COVID-19 vaccine dose at least fourteen (14) days before boarding the flight; otherwise, you can present a negative molecular test with a result date no more than 72 hours before boarding the flight. It is possible that upon your return from Cusco to Lima you will have to take a COVID-19 test (antigens) at the airport, which costs between $20 - 30 USD. Restrictions are constantly changing so we recommend that you check before your trip.

It is an architectural complex known worldwide for its admirable ruins, considered one of the 7 wonders of the modern world, mainly for the beauty of its architecture, the imposing and fine stonework of its constructions, the carvings on the rocks, the tombs and mausoleums stand out. that are located on the margins of this path. You will enter Machu Picchu approximately between 06:00 and 07:00 AM, the schedule may be subject to change without prior notice and to provider availability.

What is the Huayna Picchu Mountain and how can I reserve my ticket?

Huayna Picchu Mountain (Waynapicchu), is a hill better known as "young mountain". It has a very steep and narrow path, which includes several sections with steps. The ascent varies between 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the physical condition of each person. The imposing beauty of this natural attraction makes it a must-see for those who want an unforgettable memory of the Machu Picchu Citadel (archeological zone). The path is zigzag, its stairs are almost vertical with dizzying cliffs; and access is a bit difficult. It is not recommended for people who have heart problems, knee problems, asthma. It is very important that you respect this schedule so that there are no inconveniences. What is the Machu Picchu Mountain and how can I reserve my ticket?

Machu Picchu Mountain, is an elevated hill also called "old mountain" that thanks to its hiking route of almost 2 kilometers of steep Inca trails you can appreciate all the beauty of the geography that surrounds the Citadel Machu Picchu (archeological zone). Getting to the top and back takes an average of 3 to 4 hours depending on the physical condition of each person. It can be done as a family so it is not necessary to reach the top to appreciate the unusual beauty of the place. The link to purchase the entrance ticket is https://reservas.machupicchu.gob.pe/inicio in which you must select Machu Picchu Mountain + Circuit 3, with a schedule of 8 AM to 9AM (currently this schedule is not available). Today the entrance tickets are limited and there are only 2 times available (7am and 8am) which do not tie with the entrance to Machu Picchu Citadel (visit and entrance included in the tour) In case you want to do the Machu Picchu Mountain at one of these two times, you can do it but it is not recommended, doing the Machu Picchu Mountain first and then Ciudadela turns out to be very exhausting, unless you are in very good physical condition. In addition to this, you should consider that the guided visit to the Citadel will no longer be done in a group but will be with a private guide, with an additional charge per person. In case of acquiring these tickets considering the recommendation previously made, you must share them through the reservation chat so that the operator takes it into consideration. NOTE: If you choose to buy this ticket you will not be able to add the entrance to Huayna Picchu.
