  • Day 1 Day 1: You Arrive In Lusaka, Capital City Of Zambia

      Day 1: You Arrive In Lusaka, Capital City Of Zambia

      You will arrive in Lusaka, the capital city and business centre of Zambia. Lusaka is one of Africa’s most delightful cities. It is a metropolitan city that offers traditional and hearty Zambian welcome to all visitors.

      Narration:  We do not provide pre-arrival accommodation in Lusaka on the first day of arriving in Zambia. 

      Travel Tip! Kindly make your own accommodation arrangements in Lusaka. However, we recommend you booking and staying at StayEasy Lusaka Hotel which is the offocial starting point for this safari tour.

      Note: They are no planned activities on this day of your arrival in Lusaka, Zambia.

      In the evening we will have a ‘meet and greet session’ where you will meet your fellow travellers.

      On day 2, On this day, you will be travelling to the Lower Zambezi valley

      06:30 am: This whole exciting 11-day Nyati safari journey will start in Lusaka  from the beautiful and centrally located StayEasy Lusaka Hotel (GPS LOCATION INFORMATION S 15 24’ 10’’ E 28 17’ 7’’) . It is situated on the corner of Church and Kabelenga Roads in Lusaka city within Levy Shopping Mall yard. 

      Please note that StayEasy Hotel is the official meeting place/venue for the commencement of this marvellous 11-day Nyati safari tour covering three great National Parks. 

      Friendly advice: So, from where ever you will be staying in Lusaka, on this morning of day 1, kindly find your way to StayEasy Lusaka Hotel in the central business district (CBD) of Lusaka. In the lobby of StayEasy Hotel, you will find and meet the trip leader waiting for you in the lobby wearing a Lochinvar Safaris branded uniform or name tag. After some formal introduction formalities, you will receive a short briefing from the Trip Leader on some pertinent issues such as important country information and safety issues.

      Narration: You will rise early in the morning for breakfast. 

      07:30 am: Commencement of the tour:  You will be driven through Lusaka city and down the escarpment to the Zambezi Valley. You will travel by road from Lusaka to Chirundu (D152/RD491 about 115 km).  

      09:50 am: After Kafue town, we will head to one of Zambian’s unique natural landmark; the Kafue River and state-of-art Kafue Road Bridge. 

      ABOUT THE KAFUE RAIL BRIDGE !!

      Built in 1906, the 13 truss and 13 pillared railway bridge on the Kafue river is the second longest bridge in Zambia, the longest truss bridge in Zambia and the oldest known piece of infrastructure still in existence and in use in Lusaka province. Kafue is one of the main rivers of Zambia, the main source and water supply to the greater Lusaka city population. The tour guide will be close by to provide more detailed information on these two important landmarks.

      Narration: The tour vehicle will slow down on the Kafue Bridge. You will have a chance to have a closer view of the slow flowing Kafue River. 

      Arrive at Chirundu town: You will take your lunch at Hungry Lion at the Shop Rite shopping complex. After that you will travel on the gravel road to Mukuyu Camp  in the Lower Zambezi Game Management Area.

      Arrive at the Lower Zambezi Game Management Area (GMA)

      Upon arriving in the Lower Zambezi Game Management Area (GMA), you will check-in at Mukuyu  camp site or similar accommodation facility for a camping excursion in tents. At Mukuyu campsite you will live close to nature. 

      Narration: Mukuyu campsite is situated in a secluded location deep within the game rich Chiawa area, next to the Lower Zambezi National Park, opposite the world heritage site of Mana Pools. Indigenous bush surrounds the lodge, wildlife roam freely through the camp, the un-spoilt and abundant river offers phenomenal game fishing - Trophy, catch and release Tiger fish being  the common practice in this area.

      You will stretch out your legs after this trip from Lusaka by going for a short walk. You will experience the thrill of a walking closer to nature than ever before. If time will be short to go for a walk, you will be at liberty to explore the nearby surrounding green environment of Mukuyu camp site. 

      04:30 pm - (Arival activity): Combined canoeing and sunset cruise. Upon arrival at Mukuyu campsite, you will do a combined canoening/sunset cruise excursions on Zambezi River.

      19:30 pm – Dinner.

      21:30 pm – Early sleep

  • Day 3 Full Day Game Drive In Lower Zambezi Game Management Area And Lower Zambezi National Park

      Program of the day

      06:30 am:   Wake up and take shower. Take light breakfast/cup of tea/coffee.

      06: 40 am:  Leave from Mukuyu Camp either using our own closed vehicle or an open safari vehicle.

      Commence doing game viewing in the Lower Zambezi Game Management Area.

      Game Viewing in the Lower Zambezi National Park.  After a short  game view stint in the Lower Zambezi Game Management Area, you will enter the main Lower Zambezi  National Park, pay your park entry fees and commence the main game viewing excursion in the park.

      At mid-day: You will take your good lunch at one of the main water pools inside the park.

      Afternoon: You will continue doing game viewing using different loops inside the park. After that, you will exit the park and head back to Mukuyu Camp.

      Evening: Enjoy a sumptuous evening dinner

      21;00 pm: Retire to bed to sleep

  • Day 4 Return From Lower Zambezi Valley And Proceed To Lusaka City Enroute To Shibuyunji District For Some Cultural Activities

      Day 4 main destination: You will travel from the Lower Zambezi Valley to Lusaka enroute to Shibuyunji district in central province for some exciting cultural excursions

      Narration: You will drive through the Zambezi escarpment and back to Lusaka.  Upon arriving in Lusaka, we will pick up supplies to use on the rest of the safari journey for the next days travel to the Busanga plains. 

      Head westward: After picking up the supplies,  we will drive westward on the M9 Lusaka – Mumbwa highway road to Shibuyuni district, Chief Shakumbila’s area along the same M9  to do some cultural activities in Mamvule Village.

      Authentic Mamvule Village Cultural Tour

      Narration: Visiting  Mamvule Village is one of those insightful experiences that will stay in your memory for a long time. This  cultural village is a unique opportunity to see how the local  rural  people live in a genuine functioning village, not one built for tourists. 

      Approximately 250+ people live  in this village and a visit is a fascinating insight into their life style. A senior member of the village will show you around. You will experience first hand how rural folks in Zambia eke out a living and see how traditional huts are built. Time allowing, you may also tour the local Mamvule Primary School and see how education is delivered in a rural set-up of Zambia.

      Travel Tip! The level of poverty in this village is quite high with most people struggling to make ends meet. The situation at the local Mamvule Primary School  is not any better with school management struggling to deliver quality education to many children amidst scarcity of teaching resources. 

      Any donations either in cash or kind  (i.e any material items) you will give to this disadvantaged  community after the cultural tour will highly be appreciated.

      End of Cultural Tour: At the end of the cultural tour, you will travel to next town of  Mumbwa where you will spend the night.

      18:30 pm: You will check-in a good level lodge in Mumbwa where you will take your dinner.

      21:00 pm:  Retire to bed for a well deserved sleep over.

      You will have arrived in Busanga plains the previous day.

      You will spend the whole day in the Busanga Plains of the northern region of the Kafue National Park doing exciting game viewing activities.

      IMPORTANT NOTICE

      Please note that at certain times of the year, the Busanga plains are inaccessible by any traveler due to excessive water flooding.  In such instances, we will not visit the Busanga plains but instead  we will extend the tour to the southern  part of the Kafue National Park around the Ngoma Area Management to do a couple of activities there.

      Alternatively travel to the southern part of the Kafue National Park

      Program

      This will only happen when you are unable to travel to Busanga Plains due to excessive flooding or wet terrain  in the area. If this happens, then we will follow the below outlined program.

      Day 1 ; Travel to Kafue National Park – southern region, Ngoma Area Management

      06:00 am – 06: 30 am – Eat breakfast

      07:00 am:  In this case, you will be staying at Mwamfushi Safari Lodge in safari tents.

      07:12 am:  Travel along the spinal gravel road winding along  Kafue River and eventually the Lake Itezhi Tezhi. We will be heading to Ngoma game management area, a distance of 172 kms. You will see plenty wild animals along the spinal road drinking from the life giving Kafue River.

      05:30 pm: We will exist  the Kafue National Park via Musa gate and proceed to Itezhi Tezhi town 4kms away and lodge in at CMS Lodge located uphill.

      07:30 pm – Take your sumptous dinner

      08:00 pm –21:00 pm - Relax and take your time at the bar. 

      10:30 pm - Retire to sleep

      Day 2:  Kafue National Park – southern region, Ngoma Area Management

      05:30 am -06:10 am: Wake up from CMS Lodge in Itezhi Tezhi town about 4 Kms away from the entrance of the Kafue National Park. Thereafter eat breakfast. 

      06:20 am - 09:30: am: Leave for Ngoma game area of the KNP-South for game viewing. 

      09:30 am – 10:30 am: Travel to the Ngoma management area inside the Kafue National Park -South.ern region. 

      10:20 am – 11.30 am: Commence touring around Ngoma area management, stopping frequently in safe places to view wild animals. 

      11:30 am – 12:00 pm: Drive to the Elephant Orphanage centre within the Kafue National Park - southern area. You will see the marvelous work being done by volunteers in looking after vulnerable elephants. Any donation from you either in-kind or cash is welcome. Y

      Your contribution goes towards supporting the marvelous work being done in protecting vulnerable young orphaned elephants and later releasing them into the wild once fully grown. 

      What maybe donated by you can be (optional): 

      1. Medicines to be used for caring for these elephants 

      2. Food supplements for the elephants.

      3. Safety working clothing for the elephant care givers including cash donation.

      12:30 pm - 13:30 pm: Sumptuous Lunch at Elephant Orphanage centre. 

      14:00 pm – 15-30 pm- Drive around the Ngoma game management area for more game viewing. 

      15:30 pm - Exit Kafue National Park at Musa gate and proceed to Longola Hot springs for cultural tourism. The boiling water in the Longola hotsprings in the green lush of the Kafue Flats are a marvel to watch.

      17:30 pm: Return to CMS Lodge Uphil in Itezhi Tezhi

      19:00 pm – 21;30 pm: Evening dinner and relaxation with friends. 

      21:00 pm: Retire to bed to sleep

      Day 3:   Return to Lusaka

      05:30 am -06:10 am: Wakeup call, thereafter take breakfast. 

      05:30 am: Morning rise up, and eat your sumptuous breakfast.

      06:30am – 12:30pm: Travel to and arrive in Lusaka, capital city of Zambia.

      12:40 pm – 13:30 pm: Check-in and stay at StayEasy hotel (sharing) or at similar accommodation facility, located in central place of Lusaka, a 4 minutes’ walk to Levy Mwanawasa shopping mall.

      13:30 pm - Take lunch.

  • Day 7 Leave Busanga Plains – Return To Lusaka

      Very early in the morning, you will leave the Busanga plains after taking breakfast . You will once more  cross through the Byusanga plains on your last game drive  as you will be headingto the park exit gate. You will get on the  Kafue Hookbride before joining the M9 highway road travelling back to Lusaka on the same day. 

      Arrive in Lusaka around mid-day

      Check-in and stay at StayEasy hotel (sharing) or at similar accommodation facility, located in central  business district place of Lusaka, a 4 minutes’ walk to Levy Mwanawasa shopping mall or do other activities of your own preference.

      Afternoon activities. Lusaka City Tour program

      Time permitting upon arriving in Lusaka, you will do a Lusaka city tour.

      Sequence of events

      -  You will be taken behind the Lusaka Main Post Office which the offocial start of point for the Lusaka city tour.

      - Commence a walk on foot along Lusaka’s main Cairo road walking towards the Kafue road round-about. You will see the bustling city life as people walk up and about doing their business. You will see  the famous "Findeco House" which is the tallest building in Lusaka and the Bank of Zambia. You will then cross the fly-over bridge into independence road and head to the Lusaka Museum. 

      - Enter the Lusaka Museum for a guided tour of the museum.

      At the end of touring the Lusaka Museum, you will then be taken back to your hotel/lodge in Lusaka.

      Evening: Take a sumptuous dinner before retiring to bed. 

  • Day 8 Lusaka - Fly To Mfuwe Airport En Route To South Luangwa National Park

      Program of the day

      Early in the morning, you will be transferred to Lusaka International Airport. You will then catch a domestic flight to Mfuwe international airport (the cost of this air fare is not included in this package and you must kindly settle it yourself). 

      Explanation: When you arrive at Mfuwe airport, you will be met by our representative and transfer you to Flat Dogs Camp or Croc Valley Campsite who will take you direct to their lodge/camp. 

      Narration: Both Flatdogs Camp and Croc Valley Lodge are situated just outside of the South Luangwa National Park in the Game Management Area (GMA). They are located in a riverside forest on the banks of the Luangwa River overlooking the park. 

      Activities: You will do afternoon game drive in the South Luangwa National Park.

      Notes: Kindly note that you will you will have to meet the park entry fees into the South Luangwa National. It expires by 06:00 pm on the same day. Then the following day, you will be required to pay another park entry fee into the South Luangwa National Park.

      Begin the day with a morning game drive to see these beasts at their most active time.

      Program of the day.

      - Board an open safari vehicle  and enter the south luangwa national park.

      Narration:  Commencement of an exciting game drive by keeping an eye and an ear out for trumpeting elephants, chuckling baboons, roaring lions and many other exciting animals. This will be  followed by a bit of down time at the lodge when the sun burns at its hottest. Once the sun cools down in the evening, jump on board the safari vehicle once again and travel back to South Luangwa National Park. Animals will likely be cooling down at the banks, playing and drinking in these less intense conditions.

      Narration: South Luangwa National Park is the embodiment of big game country. Huge herds of buffalo and elephants are often seen around the savannah, matched by the size of the local lion prides. Many African elephants roam the park – these majestic beasts are the largest known subspecies of elephant in the world. There’s also the chance to see zebra, impala, wildebeest, giraffe, lion, leopard, hyena, jackal, warthog, impala, baboon, monkeys and many more – the area is positively teeming with life, and that’s before mentioning the birds! Avian life around the river is truly spectacular with sightings of saddle-billed storks, malachite kingfishers, fish eagles, goliath herons and beautiful bee-eaters often seen fluttering around the banks. 

      Elephants will often congregate to play and drink in the Luangwa river, and hippopotamus sightings are fairy frequent too. You might even spot a crocodile on the riverbanks, although these fearsome beasts are surprisingly shy. Return to the lodge in the evening to spend your last night with the group reminiscing about the day just past. Perhaps enjoy a drink and chat about the animals just witnessed on this exciting day.
