  • Day 1 Day 1: Arrival In Kathmandu Transfer To Hotel.

      A representative from Sherpa Expedition & Trekking will meet you at the airport and transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day will be free for you to explore this amazing city. In the evening your guide will give you a brief orientation about the trek and climbing expedition. In the evening you will meet with the rest of the group for a welcome dinner at a local restaurant.

      Today we will go sightseeing in some of the famous places in the Kathmandu Valley, starting with Durbar Square. You will then visit the museum and have some time to wander around Durbar Square. You may wish to sample some Newari snacks and before heading to Bouddhanath Stupa. After seeing this we will have a Tibetan style lunch. From here we head to Swayambhunath Temple (monkey temple) from where you can see out over the valley. After the tour, you will prepare by packing your gear for the climb. You can rent of buy the necessary equipment.

      Today we will drive from Kathmandu to the attractive town of Besisahar. The scenic bus ride will take about six hours. The view of lush hills, terraced farms, rivers, and distant mountains will keep you busy throughout the journey. The condition of the road is excellent up until we reach the village of Besisahar.

      Today we drive by jeep to Koto through the jungle and terraced farms alongside the Marsyangdi River. We will stop along the way for lunch and then head up through several villages until we reach the village of Jagat. From there we continue by bus again alongside the Marsyangdi River until we reach the bustling village of Dharapani (1860m) the main entry point to the Annapurna circuit trek. We have to show our permits at the checkpoint. There are also some fantastic views from here of Annapurna II (7,937m) and Lamjung Himal (6,932m) looking up the valley, and if you look back down the valley you will be able to see Mt. Manaslu (8,154m) and Peak 29 (7,833m).

      After submitting our permits at the police checkpoint we will continue along the banks of the Soti Khola (river) passing through scented pine forests,over suspension bridges, and pass cascading waterfalls before reaching Dharamsala. Here the forests are thinner with more panoramic views. We continue along the trail through more forest and have a steep ascent until we reach Meta Village on the Tibetan Plateau. The views of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal are exceptional at this elevation.

      Today we head to Junam, the second permanent settlement and a place where the Khampas from Tibet come to in winter. The next semi-permanent settlement is Chako, formerly a Khampa settlement. A few hours later we will reach our campsite at Kyang, a winter settlement of Phu situated on a plateau high above the river.

      Today we begin by following the trail along the banks of the river and see many Chortens, which are a common sight in Nar and Phu. Today we come to the ancient Phu Gate, called Pupigyal Kwe we can see the three villages of Phu and Dzong - a fort that is now in ruins. In Phu we will visit the famous Tashi Lhakhang Gompa and receive blessings from Lama Karma Sonam Rinpoche who came here in 1959 with His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

      Today at Phu we have an opportunity to explore the surrounding countryside and also have stunning views of Himlung Base Camp. In the afternoon you will have time to wander through the labyrinth of laneways of Phu and enjoy the genuine hospitality and traditional culture of the villagers.

      After finished the Himlung Himal expedition we take the trail back to Phu Gaon.

      It gets easier as we descend to lower altitudes, but at first we will head up to Kyang and Cheyako. From here we head along the trail along the banks of the Phu River following it downstream. After about five hours we reach Meta Village (3560m).

      The trail from Meta has a steep descent for about an hour and has some great views of Annapurna II, and Gangapurna. The trail heads up onto barren landscapes with only juniper bushes along the trail. Eventually we come to the large settlement of Koto (2,710m) where we stay overnight.

      Today we head by jeep to Besisahar passing through farmlands and past small settlements alongside the Marsyangdi River. Tonight we will stay at Besisahar Village.

      Our return journey takes us alongside the banks of the Marsyangdi and Trishuli River, with some beautiful views over rivers and valleys. Terraced farmland is a constant feature along the way. On your arrival back at Kathmandu, you will be taken to your respective hotels.

      Today you may wish to catch up on places you have not visited in Kathmandu, or alternatively wander around Thamel to do some last minute shopping โ€“ or head to your favourite cafรฉ.

      Today is your last day in Nepal and the end of your Himlung Himal Expedition. A representative from Sherpa Expedition & Trekking will take you to the airport around 3 hours prior to your scheduled departure.
