How is the weather in this place?

The Andes region, which has high altitudes, around 3500 meters above sea level, the daily average temperature is of 10 ° C (50 ° F), during the night it can change to a freezing stage. If you are flying directly to Cusco (3250m) you should consider  several days to be able to adjust to the high altitudes. 
The dry season at the mountain and plateau is from April to November. The rainy season is from December to March. On the coastal dry line, the hottest months of the summer are from December to March, in some parts of the coastal line there’s no rain, and in case it rains, it is from April to November.

Where does the adventure begin? Will you pick me up at the airport or hotel?

A tour representative will meet you at Cusco Airport (CUZ). Each day, before starting the tour, the guide will pick you up at your hotel, except the day number 5 of the itinerary.

Which currency do you recommend to bring? Where can I do the exchange?

The official currency in Peru is the Peruvian Sol (S/). In Lima and Cusco there are exchange houses that change any currency in the world; however, we recommend that you exchange currency in Lima.

What type of accommodation does this adventure include?

Accepted Answer

Lodging will be in 3 star hotels. In Cusco the hotels where you could stay are the Monasterio San Pedro, or Ayni Cusco Hotel; while in Aguas Calientes you will stay at the 4-star Golden Sunrise Machu Picchu.
0 to 2 years will share bed with parents.
If there are 2 people - the room can be in two single beds or with a double bed.
If there are 3 people - the room is with three single beds.
If there are 4 people - they have 2 rooms, each one can be with single beds or with a double bed.
If there are 5 people - they have 2 rooms, one with double occupancy and the other with three single beds.
If there are 6 people - they have 2 rooms, in double occupancy each one and each one can be in single beds or with a double bed.
Or it can be two triple occupancy rooms, with three single beds.
When making the reservation you must specify which type of room you prefer.

The recommended age to carry out this experience is 5 - 75  years old. Despite there being no minimum age to carry out this experience, it is not recommended for children between 0 and 5 years old.
All minors must be accompanied by 2 responsible adults (+18 years) at all times and share a room.
Check the "Extras" section to find out the charge for children under 11 years of age at the time of travel.
Children under 12 years of age and older have a regular rate.
The maximum recommended age for this experience is for people over 60 who are in good physical condition (do not suffer from heart or respiratory problems).
People over 60 years of age can carry out this experience at their own risk.

The power frequency  is of 220V, 60HZ AC, the power outlets take rounded tipped chargers , but some places have dual voltage power outlets that take flat tipped chargers.

You need to be in good physical condition as you will be doing a lot of walking most of the time. NOTE: From Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu Citadel the level of physical effort for this day is medium.

What clothes and/or gear should I take with me?

We recommend you to take a rain jacket/rain poncho, warm jacket, polo shirts, comfy pants, and a hat. We also suggest to take sun lotion (fps 35+) and insect repellent.

The best season is from April to September, since it doesn&#x27;t rain a lot.The driest months are between June and August, which is the winter in the Andean area. From January to March it is summer, but it rains a lot.

There are alternative evacuation routes for each situation. The guides are qualified to assist you in any situation, in case of an emergency you can go back to Cusco by bus.

None, both names mean the same thing. Machu Picchu Citadel, also known as the Main City of the Incas, Machu Picchu, La Llaqta, The Lost City of the Incas or archaeological zone. It is an architectural complex known worldwide for its admirable ruins, considered one of the 7 wonders of the modern world, mainly for the beauty of its architecture, the imposing and fine stonework of its constructions, the carvings on the rocks, the tombs and mausoleums stand out that are located on the margins of this path.

This experience already includes the guided tour and entry included on day 3 of the itinerary* (the day on which this activity takes place is subject to change*).

What is the Huayna Picchu Mountain and how can I reserve my ticket?

Huayna Picchu Mountain (Waynapicchu), is a hill better known as "young mountain". It has a very steep and narrow path, which includes several sections with steps. The ascent varies between 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the physical condition of each person. The imposing beauty of this natural attraction makes it a must-see for those who want an unforgettable memory of the Machu Picchu Citadel (archeological zone). The path is zigzag, its stairs are almost vertical with dizzying cliffs; and access is a bit difficult. It is not recommended for people who have heart problems, knee problems, asthma. Suitable for ages 12 and up.

Machu Picchu Mountain, is an elevated hill also called "old mountain" that thanks to its hiking route of almost 2 kilometers of steep Inca trails you can appreciate all the beauty of the geography that surrounds the Citadel Machu Picchu (archeological zone). Getting to the top and back takes an average of 3 to 4 hours depending on the physical condition of each person. It can be done as a family so it is not necessary to reach the top to appreciate the unusual beauty of the place.

We recommend bringing a backpack or handbag where you can carry the most essential items. Your luggage will be in your room; however, it&#x27;s possible to leave it at the hotel reception in Cusco while you wait for your room on the first day and/or before your transfer to the airport on the last day of your experience.

The destination does not require travel insurance as mandatory; however, it is important to mention that this is a randomly reviewed immigration requirement.

The average price of food is very diverse, depending on the restaurant you choose to eat at; prices can range from 6 soles (1 dollar) in the more distant places from the city center to 30 soles (10 dollars) around the Plaza de Armas.

How are the rooms and their arrangement?

During the experience there is only availability in double or triple rooms. If you are traveling alone, you need to book with the 1-1 rate; otherwise, you agree to share a room. In groups of 3 or more people, the preferred room arrangement must be sent through the chat at least 30 days before the start of your experience. It should be noted that there are no quadruple rooms available. In the case of traveling with minors, it is important to know that at least one adult must share a room with the minor, obligatorily.

How does the upgrade extra Vistadome train works?

If you add any extras that include the upgrade to the Vistadome train, the journey will be as follows: For the outbound trip (Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes), you will travel in the Vistadome Observatory, which includes a fully panoramic view, observatory car, live traditional dance and music, explanatory audio about the routes, ambient music, and onboard snack. This experience starts in Cusco and ends in Cusco. Once you arrive at Teniente Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport, you need to head to the outside part of the airport where you&#x27;ll find someone holding a sign with your name or Local Adventures on it. This person will transport you to the hotel where the experience begins. If you add extra nights before or after on your own, it&#x27;s necessary to check with the operator if they can arrange your transfer.

If you are Mexican, you do not require any type of vaccine to enter Peru. If you are hypertensive, suffer from any heart or respiratory disease, we recommend visiting your doctor before traveling to Peru.

You will have free time during the experience activities to explore places on your own or to buy any of the extras we offer. Within the itinerary, you can find approximate schedules for the activities.

On your free day, you can add some of the extra tours we offer within our "extras" section: 7 lagoons tour - Full Day (Minimum 2) or Montaña de 7 Colores (Vinicunca). You can also visit places within Cusco (San Pedro Market, Plaza Nazarenas, The 12 Angled Stone, San Blas Neighborhood, Sapantiana Aqueduct).
