This is a Desert Inclusive Tour and can be customised should you wish to extend your tour. It is ideally suited if you wish to combine your own planned visit to Morocco with an organised Desert Tour departing from and returning to your accommodation Marrakech. Our ‘Desert Exploration & Camel Trekking’ offers you an authentic Saharan adventure into two markedly different accessible Desert areas, providing you with a real ‘feel’ for the rural Saharan south and life as lived by southern rural and Saharan communities including our own. You traverse the High Atlas Mountains on a road trip of a lifetime, visiting iconic and not as well-known sites situated in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains and along the Draa Valley as you edge closer in parts, to a seemingly time forgotten World. Your journey is characterised by ancient fortresses crumbling back into the earth from which they were built, mighty date palm oases, red-earthed Berber villages, large skyscapes, wide open spaces and Desertscapes of undulating and towering dunes for as far as the eye can see. It also affords you time for a morning of camel trekking around the remote dunes where the great camel trade caravans of the past routinely passed through on route from Morocco to Timbuktu. Atmospheric accommodations, landscapes rich in culture and natural wonders, ’slow’ travel in the Desert and quite simply a road trip and experiences of a lifetime await you on this considered tour.

Visit the 17thcentury village of Tamegroute.

Tour of the partial underground & still inhabited Kasbah.

Visit the memorable Tamegroute pottery.

Approx 1hr Camel trek into Erg Lihoudi Desert camp.

Lihouidi is known for its patterned sands.

Dinner, campfires & live Saharan music at camp.

We depart Camp after breakfast by camel to meet with the 4×4.

Thereafter short drive to the Saharan town of M’hamid.

M’hamid is the last town reached by tarmac.

Ahead of you lies only the Desert Piste of the Sahara.

Visit Kasbah Museum of Ouled Driss in palmerie.

Lunch in M’hamid.

Optional time spent at the pool to cool off before heading into the Sahara.

60Km ‘Off Road’ drive into & over the lunar Desert Piste & into Camp.

Chigaga is known for its towering dune sets & remoteness.

Optional climbing of the dunes & optional Sandboarding.

Relaxation in a surreal setting.

Enjoy Saharan hospitality, dinner, campfire & live drumming.

Arrive at Chigaga Camp approx mid /late afternoon.

After lunch transfer to 4×4 to exit the Camp and Sahara.

Exit by a different route over Sandy Desert Plain & stony piste.

This adventure route follows partially the old Dakar Rally Desert route & Dry lake of Iriqui.

Arrive settlement of Foum Zguid approx late afternoon/early evening.
