How is the weather in this experience?

Egypt&#x27;s weather is dry. There&#x27;s not much rain, excepting winter, on the south of Cairo City. The average temperature varies between 15 º in winter, and 50º in the summer at the desert. At the Nile Delta zone, the average temperature is of 26º in the summer.

The experience starts at the Benito Juarez International Airport in Mexico City.
Airport transfer is only included on your arrival in Cairo and on your return from Cairo.

Do I need any specific medical records or vaccination?

Accepted Answer

You may have to present a COVID-19 test with negative result and maximum time of issue is 48 hours before the departure time.There&#x27;s no mandatory medical request to enter the country; however, if you&#x27;re going to travel to Egypt it is recommended that you are up to date with the routine vaccinations, such as the the MMR vaccine, the vaccination against tetanus, the diphtheria, whopping cough, polio, and chicken pox vaccines.

Which currency do you recommend to bring?

Entrance fees to sites visited (allow approx.  $125USD), tips, meals not indicated in the itinerary, drinks, snacks, and other personal expenses (e.g. laundry).

What happens if I get sick or injured during the trip and I can&#x27;t go on?

Travel insurance is compulsory on all of our tours and needs to cover personal accident & liability, medical expenses and repatriation, travel delay & abandonment. We also strongly recommend that you take out cover against cancellation and lost/stolen baggage. Personal medical insurance does not normally provide sufficient cover and is generally not suitable for travel on our tours. You will not be able to join your tour if you have not provided us with details of your insurance or if you arrive without cover in place (no refunds will be due in this event).

Do I have any spare time during the activities of the experience?

Depending on the day and date of your experience. Once the scheduled activities are over, you will generally be able to enjoy some free time to relax and take pictures. This time will be communicated by the guide at the beginning of your experience.

Do you have any suggestions on what to do on my spare days there ?

After the programmed activities and according to the date of your experience you have free time. In addition to sharing with your fellow students and enjoying the hotel facilities, we recommend some of the activities we have in the "extras" section. In Cairo you can: Visit the Grand Egyptian Museum (the new museum), Tahrir Square, Khan al-Khalili Bazaar, the Coptic Quarter, among other places. We also recommend you to enjoy the Egyptian gastronomy in typical restaurants.

If meals are included, what&#x27;s the menu going to be like?

The experience includes 1 lunch, 1 lunch box, 2 dinners, 7 breakfasts. All hotels have a buffet breakfast, the dishes in the buffet allow you to choose between continental breakfast and typical breakfast food in Egypt such as falafel, beans, fruits and vegetables. The felucca includes typical food such as baked potatoes, falafel, rice, vegetables and more, it also includes dessert such as Baklava. Most of the options are vegetarian. The BoxLunch includes sandwiches, fruit, a snack such as chips, juice, yogurt, among other foods.
You can choose where you want to eat during free time. As long as we are on the tour, it would not be possible as we have to follow the itinerary times. In addition, all the restaurants that we go to previously must be authorized by the Ministry of Tourism. You cannot change your itinerary for security reasons, so you are accompanied by a security officer for the entire trip.

If meals are not included, what’s the average price of each meal?

The price of a meal in Egypt can vary between  USD 15-25 per person per day as a minimum. Allow more if you plan on doing lots of shopping, or buying alcoholic drinks.

The hotels during this experience are comfortable and have very good service.
Cairo: Hotel Oasis Pyramids or similar to Hotel Swiss Inn.
Journey from Cairo to Aswan: Overnight on board bus with A/C and reclining seat*
Aswan: Hotel Basma or similar to Hotel Helnan.
Luxor: Hotel Lotus or similar Steigenberger luxor Hotel.
Hurghada: Hotel Caves Resort or hotel complex similar to Samra Bay.
Rooms in double or triple occupancy.
If 1 person travels without a companion, they share a double room with another travel companion.
If 2 people travel in the same reservation they have a private double room.
If 3 people travel in the same reservation, they have a triple private room.
*Optional to take a flight from Cairo to Aswan (with a supplement, consult the &#x27;extras&#x27; section), with this option you sleep in Aswan and do not spend the night on the bus.

What’s the minimum and maximum age required? Is the price the same for underaged

We accept children from 5 to 11 years old accompanied by at least 2 adults of legal age in the same reservation and sharing the room during the tour.
Passengers over 60 years of age can also travel, however the itinerary could be a bit heavy due to the long hours by bus, very early departures from one place to move to another, sleeping in the felucca can be very uncomfortable. For these passengers it is suggested to add extras “Flight from Cairo to Aswan” “Change from Bus to Night Train from Cairo to Aswan” “Change accommodation from Felucca to Hotel (4th night)” or experience The Best Of Egypt On A Nile River Cruise.
Most of the travelers in this experience are between 18 and 30 years old, who during the night on the felucca (navigating the Nile) share accommodation with other clients on a "bed" made of mats, travelers usually swim in the Nile, play letters, dancing, drinking and, if the weather permits, singing songs by the campfire on the banks of the Nile River.

You will have access to Wi-Fi in common areas of the hotel. However, it is recommended to purchase a SIM card upon arrival in Egypt in order to have cellular coverage and ensure that you are connected to the Internet at all times. The internet is usually open; however, there is not always good speed or it is expensive to acquire in hotels. Having a signal or internet on cruise ships is not always possible.

The tour covers most of the highlights in Egypt, which involve long journeys, a fair amount of walking, and overnight traveling.

You need to have a complete travel insurance that covers any inconvenient such as delayed or cancelled flights, as well as it is recommended to have an insurance for higher medical expenses in case there&#x27;s an emergency.

What clothes and/or gear should I take with me?

Most of your time in Egypt will be in a hot climate. However, at night, and especially in the deserts, the temperatures can drop quite dramatically. So you must pack for cool conditions. Formal dress (eg. suits & ties) is not required at the hotel restaurants. Long sleeves are recommended to protect from mosquitoes if you are on the felucca. Modesty rates highly in Egypt, especially for women, so to respect the local culture & people, please ensure all clothes are loose fitting and not revealing. Shorts (not hot-pants) are OK in tourist sites, as are T-shirts, but these should not show too much bare flesh (we suggest that your shoulders should remain covered). In the centre of Cairo, if you are visiting any mosques, legs and arms should be covered. Other items: If you will be travelling on a felucca then we recommend bringing a light sleeping sheet or sleeping bag liner all year round for comfort, and a light sleeping bag in the winter months (November to February). We also recommend you bring a sun hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, a basic first aid kit, toiletries, small towel, money belt, small torch, camera & charger.

It is necessary to check directly with your country&#x27;s embassy to confirm if there are any visa requirements. This will depend on your nationality. It is also important that the passport has at least six months validity from the return of the trip. ###MX Mexican citizens with ordinary passports DO require a visa. You can pay for the visa upon arrival at the airport in Cairo and other ports of entry, but it is suggested to obtain the visa at the Egyptian Embassy closest to your place of residence to avoid mishaps. The cost is between 500 and 700 Mexican pesos. How is the Train from Cairo to Aswan?

It is a night train with the ERW line. The cabins have a small sink and 2 bunk beds, so you share the stay with 3 more people. The journey takes approximately 12 hours. Check the extras section to know the charge for changing from bus to train.

How is the flight from Cairo to Aswan?

Accepted Answer

The flight from Cairo to Aswan is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes and includes one (1) piece of luggage weighing 15 kilos.
By including this change you have included the transfers Hotel - Airport - Hotel. depending on the flight departure time you will have an extra night in Cairo or Aswan.
Flight times are generally 8:30 PM on day 2 or 3:00 AM on day 3, depending on availability.

To avoid possible problems with the extra baggage, you will have to consider an additional charge that the airline indicates. If at the destination the guide accepts to take the luggage on the bus or the hotel accepts possible to leave the luggage in a safe until your return, it will be at your own risk. What is the internal transfer bus like?

The bus for internal transfers has A/C, reclining seats, two access doors (one in the front and one in the middle) and a bathroom (sink and toilet). The windows are panoramic style to enjoy the scenery. During the hottest seasons you can buy bottled water directly on the bus. It has capacity for approximately 40 passengers and special spaces for luggage storage.

What is a felucca?

They are small sailing boats (usually they can carry between 8 and 10 passengers, plus a couple of people as crew) and in this itinerary you spend one night on this boat. They have 2 levels, the first is a large space where you eat and sleep, you also find a half bathroom (no shower). The second floor or space is a small terrace where you can take amazing pictures at sunset and party with your companions and guide. The crew puts small mattresses on the second floor for the night and you are given sheets to cover yourselves. We recommend that you bring your own sleeping bag in case you get cold. The Faluca does not allow children under 16 years old for safety measures and possible night parties.

How is the felucca ride?

Board the falucca in Aswan on day 4. You enjoy the scenery of the Nile River while sailing; the captain will anchor on some occasions to take breaks, stretch your legs, take your meals and of course jump into the Nile River, a once in a lifetime experience. If necessary you can use one of the floats. The food included is typical Egyptian and consists of mainly vegetarian dishes such as falafel, baked potatoes, hummus, Arabic bread, rice, and much more, you can also eat some desserts such as Baklava (contains pistachios and nuts) and fruits. At night you can relax, enjoy traditional Bedouin music and party. You sleep together with your fellow travelers on mattresses on the bottom of the falucca because there are no rooms on the boat. The bathroom is also shared and consists of a sink and toilet. The next day you will sail early in the morning to visit the temple of Kom Ombo with the local guide. Your luggage is stored in a special compartment for suitcases and backpacks. The tour group is divided into 8 passengers per falucca.
