      Day 1: Welcome To Albania

Day 2: Start Of The Hike To The Hidden Valley Of Zagoria

A short transfer on a winding road takes you to a small village (no transfer if the first overnight stay is in Peshtan). The Zagoria valley is not yet visible; Dhembeli, Nemercka, Lunxheri and Buretto, four mountain ranges, protect it from the world. Only an old caravan route leads to this hidden place. You hike through forests and up to a pass from which the entire extent of the valley is revealed. The path leads over terraced fields to the almost deserted village of Kala and down to the river, which is spanned by a humpbacked Ottoman stone bridge. You reach the village of Limar, your destination for the day, after a strenuous climb.

In Nivan, the central square is dedicated to William Tilman, a famous British mountaineer and sailor, also called the "last true explorer of the 20th century". Day 5: Hike Over The Dhembel Pass To Permet

The crossing of the Dhembel-Nemercke range is the way back to the outside world. A shady gully leads up to the alpine pastures of the almost vegetationless alpine valley, flanked by steep slopes, and to the Dhembel Pass (1,450 m). From there, there are views of the eastern mountains opposite in Greece and the small town of Permet far below. The long, rocky and challenging descent requires attention and leads to Leuse, a stone village with a church that is perhaps the most beautiful in southern Albania. From here it is only a short walk to your accommodation.
