Bikes are included for this tour and are well-known makes of hardtail mountain bikes with Shimano componentโ€™s and front suspension. Helmet hire is included, however you are welcome to bring your own seat and/or pedals, and weโ€™ll fit them to your bike for the tour. E-bikes are available at additional cost.

Guide

You will be led by a local English-speaking guide and if the group is 9 people or more we will add another guide to the tour. All our guides are well informed in the history, culture and religions of the area where you are biking and are skilled at passing that knowledge on to you. Your guide is also medically trained and an experienced cyclist, able to handle most minor repairs en route.

      Day 1

      We meet at our tour hotel on the shores of the montane lake Strbske Pleso for a trip briefing and welcome dinner.

      Day 2

      We ride west through the wilds of High Tatras National Park on a mix of paved roads and forest trails. Mostly downhill, this is a great warm-up with stunning scenery leading to the charming town of Liptovsky Mikulas.

      Day 3

      Todayโ€™s ride takes us through the Low Tatras Mountains. We visit the UNESCO World Heritage-listed village of Vlkolรญnec, climb up to the Donovaly Pass, and descend into the heart of Slovakia at Banska Bystrica.

      Day 4

      After a flat ride following the course of the Hron River we venture into a terrain of low-rising, forested mountains and cultivated valleys. We spent the night in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed town of Banska Stiavnica, renowned for its historic legacy of gold and silver mining.

      Day 5

      We complete our traverse across the Carpathian Mountains and descend to the plains of southern Slovakia. Crossing the Danube River to enter Hungary, we spend the night in the city of Esztergom, home to Hungaryโ€™s largest Catholic basilica.

      Day 6

      We ride the โ€œGreat Bendโ€ of the Danube, one of the most scenic stretches along the entire valley, to reach Budapest. We end our bike tour with a farewell dinner in the Hungarian capital.

      Our cycling tour has ended but we suggest you extend your stay another day or two to explore Budapest.
