      Rise and shine! Today weโ€™re taking a city tour of Accra with so many places to explore. Youโ€™ll visit the Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, National Museum of History and Ethnography to observe exhibits that reflect the heritage of Ghana. The W.E.B. Du Bois Center honoring the life of one of the most prominent Pan-Africanists who chose to live and work in Ghana, weโ€™ll finish up with a visit to the Arts and Crafts Bazaar. 

      Independence Square, Accraโ€™s open-air ceremonial grounds where all national celebrations are held.

      Opened on the eve of Independence Day back in 1957, the National Museum of Ghana has become a staple for travelers and locals looking to learn more about the rich history, colorful culture and unique traditions of a country and people in the midst of constant change.

      Three major galleries highlight artifacts from ancient and contemporary Africa. Historic sculptures are displayed alongside the works of modern West African artists. Travelers can wander the halls decorated with traditional attire and handcrafted instruments, impressive and ornate chiefsโ€™ regalia, and bronze statues from neighboring countries. 


      A unique sculpture garden displays life-size 3-D images of Kawme Nkrumah, the nationโ€™s first president, and other political figures. The library, conservation laboratory and education hall are also popular stops on a tour of the National Museum of Ghana.    

      Makola Market is a renowned local and multi indoors and open outdoors market place and shopping district in the centre of the city of Accra. Be exposed to the busy  women traders at Makola Market, Accraโ€™s largest outdoor market...as you enjoy the colorful and joyful hustles of the people..shop for something and enjoy everything that the local has to offer while you take pictures

      This experience helps us to reconnect to our roots, where it all began and be reunited with the past. The Black history and its culture is communicated to us in the form of art. This can be very emotional. But this is the price we all pay for something we all love and or a piece that is stolen from us.

      After which we will be given a sacred moment to light up candles to celebrate all the heroes who sacrificed for us to live, and ask for strength to fight and resist any oppressors acts against injustice and inhumanity in any way form or shape.

      As descendants of enslaved Africans we welcome back our brothers and sister in the diaspora back in to the mother land. You will be given a guided tours through the museum at Nuhale in Ada (Ghana) which is only about a Two and half hours drive of Accra the capital city to learn all about Africaโ€™s journey to liberation communicated to us through art.

      After breakfast depart to Cape Coast in the Central Region of Ghana; with a stop at Kakum National Park; one of West Africaโ€™s surviving tropical rainforests. This provides an unforgettable โ€œJungleโ€ experience amidst the tropical vegetation and wildlife. The forest provides the opportunity to see much of Ghanaโ€™s indigenous plant life, rare butterflies, flora, and fauna monkeys. The most popular attraction is the Canopy walkway, which is made up of seven bridges extending 330 meters and hanging 30 meters above the forest floor. 


       In Cape Coast, go on a City Tour of Elmina City drive through the ancient town of Elmina. At the harbor see the colorful fishing canoes getting ready to go to sea for another nightโ€™s task of fishing. This is a perfect opportunity for the photographers in the group. Cape Coast Castle which also houses the West African Historical Museum established by the Smithsonian Institute in collaboration with the Ghanaian Government in 1994. Cape Coast Castle is another restored UNESCO World Heritage Site,one of the departure points for Africans being sent to slavery in the Americas and the Carribeans.

      After breakfast, prepare for a visit to the Elmina Castle. Another infamous castle and slave dungeon, Elmina was built by the Portuguese in 1482 as St. Georgeโ€™s Castle.  This castle was the first European structure built in Sub โ€“ Saharan Africa. Explore the grounds and rooms full of haunting history. 

      After lunch, enjoy a walking tour of the colonial town of Elmina. Visit the Elmina fishing village. Elminaโ€™s rich history is captured in its buildings. They tell the stories of the people of Elmina and their interaction with those who came from outside West Africa. 


      Visit the colorful Asafo houses, which were used as a place for warriors to prepare mentally and spiritually before going to war. They are wonderful examples of how art is used in daily lives of Africans.

      En route to Kumasi from Cape Coast we visit the Assin Manso Slave river(Donkor Nsuo  ) Assin Manso was the final link in the slavery route from northern Ghana, and it was known to have been the largest slave market for merchants supplying slaves to the forts and castles along the coast.

      Former slaves from the Americas, Samuel Carson from the USA & Crystal from Jamaica, were re-interred here in 1998.

      Upon arrival in Kumasi, the historical and spiritual capital of the old Ashanti Kingdom. The Ashanti people wereone of the most powerful nations in Africa until the end of the XIX century, when the British annexed Ashanti Kingdom to their Gold Coast colony. The tribute paid today to the Asantehene (=King) is the best evidence of their past splendour and strength. With nearly one million inhabitants, Kumasi is a sprawling city with a fantasticcentral market, one of the biggest in Africa. Every type of Ashanti craft (leather goods, pottery, Kente cloth) is found here, along with just about every kind of tropical fruit and vegetable.  

       

      The Ashanti Kingdom is blessed with rich culture and home to much pomp and pageantry. this Region is also known for its historical and mythical landmarks. the language spoken is twi, the scenic hilly Kumasi is the regional capital, the second largest city in Ghana.we visit the Okomfo Anokye Sword,an important symbol of the Ashanti Kingdom Unity that marks the spot where the Golden Stool is said to have descended from the sky and has been dig deep the groud where no man born of a woman can pull out and its said to have been in the ground over 300 years. Legend says the Ashanti Kingdom will collapsed should the sword be removed.

      Visit the Manhiya Palace where is the Head of the Ashanti Kingdom resides.It is the official residence of Ashanti Kings(Asantehene)until 1974,now a museum containing treasured items relating to the Ashanti Kingdom. Visit Adwonmase Kente village and learn about the Famous Kente cloth as well as the Adinkra symbols at Ntonso. Explore!
